Welcome to Kagemusha Taiko We are based in Exeter, in the
south-west of England. We give professional taiko concerts and run a
pioneering taiko education programme including workshops and teacher-training
nationwide. In addition, we have an award-winning youth taiko programme.
We also provide teambuilding events for business organisations.
Taiko Performance
We have three different performing groups who have played nationally and
internationally in a wide range of locations, from street and village festivals
to major venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and
even the Milan Fashion Show.

Teaching
Taiko
Education is a major part of our work. We would like to
see at least one taiko group in every town in the country and to this end we train teachers
to introduce taiko to their schools. Our next
teacher-training day is Saturday 6th February 2010, in Exeter.
All that's required to start teaching taiko is some basic training and access
to some resource material. We can provide you with all of this, including
Jonathan Kirby's critically acclaimed book "Teaching Taiko: Principles and
Practice" with its accompanying set of training dvds which are now selling
worldwide.

Taiko is spreading rapidly in schools across the UK. If you've got the
will, there is very definitely a way that you can introduce taiko too. If
seeing is believing, then come to the annual
UK Taiko Festival,
where you will see some amazing youth groups.

Learning Taiko
We run occasional short courses at the Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre, and also offer half-day
"taiko taster" workshops. These are suitable for adult beginners including
those who already have some experience. Taking a number of courses can be
a route into Kagemusha Festival Group for those who want to perform in public.
Kagemusha Taiko can be booked to provide workshops in schools, anywhere in
the country.
Taiko sessions can also make valuable contributions to business organisations,
sometimes with the focus on teambuilding, sometimes as part of change management
or leadership development programmes. We have more than 10
years experience of doing this successfully, always working to ensure
transferability of learning to the workplace.
